Another new apolitical non profit organization.Six national development objectives.A global coalition to serve as a pillar for building the nation, NIGERIA.
Yet,in all these stances, stone silence!.Since the future depends on what we do in the present(Mahatma Gandhi),and no one knows what he can do until he or she tries(Publilius Syrus);it is necessary to break the community silence.
Of course, one is tempted to wonder why no write up was posted, in this forum. It may be that the focus was on YFBN Personalities, as opposed to focusing on the six objectives, brought forward by YFBN.Perhaps not.
Analytically, any conceivable scenario is in consonance with our community mind-set.A theoretical examination of this mindset, and in particular, its sociology, is beyond the scope of this submission. But if one is not in denial,it cannot be denied that, after controlling for "state" and our local languages, there is this notion that:" if you rob my shoulder, then I'll rob yours"; directly or indirectly. In so doing, egos would rob off on each other, in the quest or desire to serve as local heroes;or to appear as socially relevant.
On a more serious note, it may be that Youth For Better Nigeria, met with silence because they came out swinging with no praise singers or materialistic god fathers.
Like new kids on the block, they came out dreaming big and thinking outside the box,as alluded to above.
To save your time and mail box space, let me quickly provide some concise remarks, from this end.In the characteristic community mindset, the remarks may also serve as additional menu for" working the telephone":
First, looking at the vision, goals and objectives of YFBN, my conjecture is that they are off to a very good start.
WE SHOULD ALL WISH THEM WELL.
If you wish to make a mighty fire, you begin it with weak straws(Shakespeare,in JULIUS CAESAR).Besides, in other to succeed, we must first believe that:
YES,WE CAN(Michael Korda).
Secondly, because the taste of the pudding,is in the eating; it remains to be seen whether in the Diaspora and Nigeria,YFBN would be able to move beyond, what I termed elsewhere as:YOUTHFUL EXUBERANCE AND UTOPIAN GOOD INTENTIONS!!.
Thirdly, yet, looking at the structure, conduct and performance of other Youth Groups in the Diaspora; youth in the East, West, North and Niger Delta Nigeria;it appears that YFBN has its role cut out for itself.Clearly,YFBN can work to bridge the gap in communication among the various Nigerian youth group solitudes;through INTER YOUTH GROUP NETWORKING.And,when such genuine and unadultrated communication begins,we would all be better served; one way or the other.
In conclusion, to the young man who asked me for some pieces of advice,I'll say:TAKE THREE,due to space limitations:
1."It's easy to make a buck.It's a lot tougher to make a difference."....................Tom Brokaw.
2."If you want your life to be rewarding, you have to look and perhaps change the way you think"......
Oprah Winfrey.And,above all;
3.Do all the good you can
By all the means you can
In all the ways you can
In all the places you can
At all the times you can
To all the people you can
As long as ever, you can..
John Wesley,18th Century Methodist Pastor.
CONGRATULATION TO YFBN.We wish you well.
Cheers.
